Edward Louis Slemsek was born on April 12th 1918 to Anton & Mary [Zuzek] Slemsek in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Slemsek was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 8th 1942. Home at entry: Chisholm.
He served as a military policeman with Company C of the 601st MP Battalion during WWII. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Slemsek earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Medal, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on Jananuary 10th 1946, at Camp Shleby, Mississippi. He has two brothers who were also Veterans of WWII, namely Albin Lawrence Slemsek and Frank Henry Slemsek.
Mr. Slemsek died on November 10th 1981 at 63 years of age in Hibbing, Minnesota. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
