Albin Lawrence Slemsek was born on December 29th 1919 to Anton & Mary [Zuzek] Slemsek in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Slemsek was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 21st 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minneosta. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.
He served as a truck driver in the Pacific, New Guinea, Papua, and East Indies. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Slemsek earned the following merits for hs service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on August 8th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He has two brothers who were also Veterans of WWII, namely Edward Louis Slemsick and Frank Henry Slemsek.
Mr. Slemsek died on June 7th 1989 at 69 years of age in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
