William T. Korpela of Eveleth, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on September 14, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn. 

He was a Private First Class and truck driver with the 216th Combat Engineer Regiment, 16th Armored Division in Central Europe.

Mr. Korpela received the: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
