William S. Maki of Makinen was inducted into the Army on Jan. 22, 1943.
He was a Staff Sergeant and foreman with the 534th Engineers Boat and Shore Regiment in Luzon and New Guinea.
He was awarded the: Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with a bronze star, World War II Victory medal and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on Jan. 22, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
