"All my life I remember my dad telling me about his time in WWII. As my daughters grew up, he would tell the stories to them, too. He also went to their schools and talked to the classes about the war. This trip to our nation’s capitol, to see the WWII memorial, would be a very special time for grandfather and granddaughter to bond and remember for a lifetime.
"My dad, William (Bill) Ivy, is a very proud American Army veteran of WWII. He served in the European Theater and always has stories to tell about the battles and the brave men he served with. Some of my favorite stories are about when he met General Eisenhower and General Patton. I am very proud that he is my dad."
