William H. McLean of Duluth, Minnesota entered the Navy.
He was a Coxswain and master at arms and involved in commissary delivery at Pearl Harbor.
He said, "I was attending Denfeld high school (Duluth) when I enlisted in the Navy at 17 on May 17, 1945. When I completed training, I was placed on a ship on the West Coast enroute to Japan. The A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during this time, ending the war, and we diverted to Hawaii to serve out enlistment."
He was discharged on Aug. 10, 1946.
