William Jerome Martineau

William Jerome Martineau served in World War II on the Aleutian Islands. He served in the U.S. Army from March 29, 1941 until October 11, 1945.
He was assigned to the 215th Coast Guard Artillery, Anti-Aircraft and later transferred to the 84th American Ground Forces (AGF) Band. His rank was Technician 5th Grade.
Mr. Martineau was decorated with the: Asiatic Pacific Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Martineau was born in 1922 to Edward and Mary Martineau in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Entered at Fort Snelling, then to Camp Haan, California, for basic. By truck caravan to Seattle, Camp Murray. Shipped by boat to Kodiak Island. Returned by boat to Seattle, then by train to For Bliss, Texas. Post band at Fort Bliss. Played for many parades at Fort Bliss, Biggs Field, Beaumont General Hospital.
