William C. Korpi

William C. Korpi was inducted into the Army Air Corps on April 30, 1942. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served as a Sergeant and airplane mechanic with the 746th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines, and Po Valley, Italy: Air Combat Balkans, Northern France, Southern France, and Rhineland.

Mr. Korpi was awarded the: Presidential Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver and three bronze battle stars (representing eight campaigns), World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars. 

He was honorably discharged on September 12, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
