RELL, William Albert
William Albert Rell was born on September 20th 1922 to Leander Luke & Mary Myrtle [Armstrong] Rell in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Rell enlisted into the Army Air Corps on October 22nd 1941 at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as an aerial engineer with the Third Photo Group in Algeria-Fr. Morocco and Tunisia, North Africa: Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Italy; and in the Southern France campaign. He rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant.
SGT Rell earned the following merits for his service:
- Air Medal,
- Presidential Unit Citation,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze battle stars, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal Five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on June 8th 1945, at Fort Snelling. After the war he returned home and married Eustine Christine [Rapko] in 7/20/1945 and they started a family.
Mr. Rell died on May 6th 1996 at the age of 73 years in Colorado. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm, Minnesota.
