Willard Edwin Johnson served during World War II in the U.S. Army.
He was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on April 10, 1913, the son of Henning Frederick and Alma (Hagberg) Johnson. He attended Duluth Denfeld High School. After school he worked for Zinsmaster Bread Co. in West Duluth.
Willard registered for military service Oct. 16th, 1940. He was a big man for his time at 6’ 3 ½” and 200 lbs. He served in the Army Air Corps and was discharged after the war December 9th, 1945.
Upon returning home he became a resort owner; he never married.
Mr. Johnson died at age 95 in Duluth on October 7, 2008.
