Wilho G. Hyrkas of Virginia, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on July 24, 1941 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private and rifleman with the 12th Infantry Regt., Normandy and Northern France. He was twice wounded in action in July and August, 1944 in France.
Mr. Hyrkas was awarded the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars.
He was honorably discharged March 1, 1946 at hospital center, Camp Carson, Colo..
