Wilbur E. Niemiste of Leonidas, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on January 22, 1943.
He was a Technician 5th Grade and an aerial photographer for the Corps of Engineers in Company A of the 654th Engineers. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Niemiste received the: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and three overseas service bars.
He was discharged on December 23,1945.
