Wayne S. Helander

Wayne S. Helander of Aurora, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on July 17, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He was a Technician 5th Grade and truck driver in Company G of the 717th Railway Operating Battalion in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Helander was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged December 19, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
