MAROSTE, Wayne Jonas 

Wayne Jonas Maroste was born on November 3rd 1906 to Arvid & Evilina [Tieva] Maroste in Virginia, Minnesota.

Mr. Maroste of Togo, Minnesota was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 24th 1942.

He was an infantryman with the 53rd Infantry, Aleutian Islands. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC)

PFC Marcoste earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with a bronze battle star,
  • World War II Victory Medal, -and-
  • three overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged on August 30th 1945, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Mabel [Olliney] on July 17th 1943 and they started a family.

Mr. Marcoste died on April 28th 1987 at the age of 80 years. He is buried at Willow Valley Cemetery in Virginia, Minnesota.
