Wayne E. Tiainen

Wayne E. Tiainen inducted into the Army on March 22, 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

Mr. Tiainen served as a Private First Class and ammunition bearer with the 86th Mountain Infantry Regiment in Po Valley and Northern Apennines, Italy.

He was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Tiainen was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945, at Hospital Center, Camp Carson, Colorado.
