Warren O. Peterson

Warren O. Peterson of Duluth, Minnesota enlisted in the Army on Nov. 9, 1939.

He was a Staff Sergeant and ammunition non-commissioned officer with the Service and Ammunition Battery, 39th Field Artillery, 3rd Infantry Division. He served in Algeria and Tunisia in North Africa and in Sicily, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno in the Italian campaign. He was wounded in action on May 31, 1944, at Anzio in Italy.

Mr. Peterson received the: Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, American Defense Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was discharged on May 29, 1945.
