Walter R. Ostby

Walter R. Ostby entered the Army on April 30, 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Biwabik, Minnesota.

He served as a Sergeant and rifleman NCO with Company A of the 397th Infantry Regiment of the 100th Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Ostby received the following: Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal,Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged March 12, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
