HENDRICKSON, Walter John

Walter John Hendrickson was born April 14th 1906 in Cherry, Minnesota to Elias & Elsa J "Hanna" [Kyro] Hendrickson.

Mr. Hendrickson was inducted into the Army on July 16, 1942 at Iron, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class in construction with the 1598th Engineer Utility Detachment in Rhineland.

PFC Hendrickson was awarded the following medals:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star,
  • American Campaign Medal -and-
  • one overseas service bar.

 

He was honorably discharged November 5, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned to his hometown. 

Mr. Hendrickson died on December 4th 1990 at the age of 74 years old. He is buried at Cherry-Clinton Cemetery in Cherry, Minnesota.
