Walfred A. Ojanen of Angora, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on Sept. 24, 1942.
He was a Technician 5th Grade and a bridge carpenter with Company C, 270th Engineer Combat Battalion, serving in Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno in the Italian campaign and southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Ojanen received the: Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead, World War II Victory Medal and four overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Nov. 3, 1945.
