Virgil C. Peterson was inducted into the Army on May 15, 1941.
He served as a Technician 4th Grade before attending engineering Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant on March 3, 1943, at Fort Belvoir, Va. He was a military transportation officer with the 77th Engineer Petroleum Distribution Company in the China-Burma-India Theater.
Mr. Peterson received the: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with two bronze battle stars, American Campaign Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was released from active duty as a 1st Lieutenant on March 18, 1946.
