Virgil C. Hutchinson

Virgil C. Hutchinson of Floodwood, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on August 7, 1944 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He was a Corporal and rifleman with a Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) with Company L, 3rd Battalion of the Third Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, Third Infantry Div. in Rhineland, Central Europe (Seigfied Line, Rhine River, Schweinfurt, Nuremburg, Augsburg, Germany; Munich, Salzburg, Austria. He was wounded in action March 19, 1945.

He was awarded the: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, Army of Occupation Service Medal (Germany), World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged June 3, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
