Vernon L. Peterson served in World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific.

He was born on May 2, 1926 in Duluth, Minnesota to Henrietta and Leonard Peterson. He attended and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1944.

After returning from the war he attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. He later attended and graduated from Michigan Tech with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Design Engineering.

On March 22, 2007 he died in Sun City West, Arizona.
