He served as a Sergeant and railway conductor with the 16th Major Port in Central Europe.

He was awarded with the following: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Anderson was honorably discharged on March 6, 1946, to enlist in the Regular Army, LeHavre, France.
