MAKI, Urho John
Urho John Maki was born on August 30th 1910 to & Mary Rose [Kosmovich] Maki in Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Maki entered the U.S. Army on August 11th 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a utility repairman with Company A of the 125th Infantry Regiment in Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines, and Po Valley, Italy. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Maki earned the following merits for his service:
- the Bronze Star Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Combat Infantryman Badge,
- American Campaign Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal and 3 overseas service bars .
He was honorably discharged on November 19th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Mr. Maki dies on August 16th 1990 at the age of 79 years. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
