Urho I. Nelson

Urho I. Nelson of Iron, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on April 25, 1942.

He was a Private First Class and a truck driver with Company D, 735th Tank Battalion, 30th Infantry Division in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

Mr. Nelson was awarded the: Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 5 bronze battle stars, American Campaign Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal with three overseas service bars.

He was discharged Oct. 31, 1945.
