Urho A. Haikio was inducted into the Army July 28, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as a Private First Class and antitank gun crewman with the 10th Quartermaster Battalion in North Apennines and Po Valley, Italy.
Mr. Haikio was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars and World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged November 26, 1945, at Fort Logan, Colo.
