Mr. Began inducted into the Army October 20, 1941.
He served as a Private First Class and lumberjack with Company E of the 394th Infantry Regiment in Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.
He was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and five overseas service bars.
Honorably discharged October 1, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
