LINDFORD, Toivo Leonard

Toivo Leonard Lindfors was born on March 17th 1916 to Alexander & Ida M [Loff} Lindfors in Zim, Minnesota.

Mr. Lindfors entered in the U.S. Army on December 2nd 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Zim.

He served as a truck driver with the 714th Railroad Operating Battalion in the Pacific. He rose to the rank of Technician 5th Grade (TEC5).

TEC5 Lindfors earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • four overseas service bars.

 

He was honorably discharged January 20th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home.

Mr. Lindfors died on July 27th 1982 at the age of 66 years. He is buried at New Zim Cemetery in Zim, Minnesota.
