Toivo John Kortes Sr. was born on May 1st 1921 to John & Elano Kortes in Angora, Minnesota.
Mr. Kortes was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 24th 1942 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was a searchlight operator and cook. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).
He was honorably discharged on August 4th 1944. After the war he returned home and married Ella May [Osier] on January 17th 1944 in Butte, Montana and they started a family.
Mr. Kortes died on August 18th 1977 at 56 years of age in Virginia, Minnesota. He is buried at Alango Cemetery in Angora, Minnesota.
