Toivo J. Koivisto

Toivo J. Koivisto was inducted into the Army on March 22, 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home of entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class and a Browning Automatic Rifleman in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was wounded in action on January 31, 1945, in Belgium.

Mr. Koivisto was awarded the: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on December 13, 1945, at Fort Bliss, Texas.
