Toivo I. Koivunen of Mountain Iron, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on May 30, 1942.
He was a Private and longshoreman with the 528th Engineer Company in Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, Italy and the Rhineland in Central Europe.
Mr. Koivunen was awarded the: European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
