Theodore Kalervo Oman was inducted into the Army on March 29, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a Sergeant and section chief with Headquarters Company of the 16th Tank Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was wounded in action on March 20, 1945 in the European Theater.
Mr. Oman was awarded the following: Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Mr. Olson also served for four years from 1934 to 1938 in the Regular Navy as a Seaman First Class aboard the battleships USS Texas and USS New Mexico.
He was honorably discharged September 12, 1938, USS New Mexico.
