JAVORINA, Stephen Andrew
Stephen Andrew Javorina was born on January 9th 1926 to Sam & Margaret [Hlabsche] Javorina in Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Javorina was inducted into the U.S.Army on June 23rd 1944 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was a cannoneer with Battery A ofthe 376th Parachute Field Artillery in Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Private First Class. (PFC).
PFC Javorina earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star,
- American Campaign Medal,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- one overseas service bar.
He was honorably discharged on April 22nd 1946 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. After the war he returned home and married Gail Marie [Prince] on June 16th 1951 and they started a family.
Mr. Javorina died on November 12th 1962 at 36 years of age in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
