LONDON, Sam
Sam London was born on November 11th 1909 to Joe & Fanny [Weiner] London in Duluth, Minnesota.
Mr. London was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 10th 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home of entry: Duluth, Minnesota.
He served as a pharmacist with the 193rd General Army Hospital in Ardennes and Rhineland. He was also a pharmacist for the 178th General Army Hospital in Reims, France, the second largest hospital in Europe. The hospital was frequently visited by General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).
TEC London earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- two overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged March 13th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Mr. London died on February 14th 1997 at 87 years of age. He is buried at Shaara Tzedek Cemetery in Hermantown, Minnesota.
