Russell Plaisted served in World War II in the South Pacific. He served in the US Navy beginning on June 28, 1943.
He was assigned to the Construction Battalion, US Naval Construction Training Center, located in Wilmington, VA, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 522 Unit 524 and the Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 600.
He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1946. Mr. Plaisted held the rank of Electricians Mate 3rd Class.
Russell Plaisted was born in Duluth, Minnesota in November of 1924. He is the son of Elder and Genevieve Plaisted. He graduated from high school in 1943.

“I was sworn in at Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sent to Camp Perry, Wilmington, VA and on to Port Hueneme, California. I served nine months at Barber’s Point Naval Air Station in Hawaii and almost 2 years at Midway Island’s Naval Air Base. I was discharged in Minneapolis.”
