Terch, Russell Peter

Russell Peter Terch was born on August 30th 1919 in Virginia to Peter and  Addie (Mallaloy) Terch.

Mr. Terch was inducted into the Army on February 3rd 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Virginia, Minnesota.

Mr. Terch served as a Technician Fifth Grade and truck driver with Company B of the 230th Engineer Construction Battalion in New Guinea and Luzon.

He was awarded the following:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal,
  • Six overseas service bars, and
  • Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star.

 

Mr Terch was honorably discharged on December 8th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he married Jean Mae DeLisle on April 3rd 1948, in Superior, Wisconsin. They made their home in Ely Lake-Fayal Township. He was a member of Crellin-Tini VFW Post 1113 of Virginia

Mr Terch died July 22nd 1996 at the age of 86 years of age. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia.
