SENICH, Rudolph "Rudy"

Rudolph "Rudy" Senich was born on December 10th 1922 to Peter & Stoya "Stella" [Winovich] Senich in Calumet, Minnesota. The family moved to Carson Lake and he graduated from Hibbing High School. He then went on to North Dakota State University for the pharmacy program.

Mr. Senich enlisted for military service on December 14th 1942 at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC) on March 28, 1943.

He was a Commissioned 1st Lieutenant (1LT) and served as a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator bomber with the 321st Squadron of the 90th Bomb Group and Fifth Air Force. During World War II, Rudy served his country as a bombardier with the Jolly Rogers in the Southwest Pacific.

CPT Senich's unit flew 48 combat missions totaling 409 combat flight hours against Wewak, New Guinea; Corregidor, Mindinao, Leyte, Luzon, Philippines; Formosa, and Saigon.

He was awarded the following: Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Mr. Senich was honorably discharged on December 25th 1945. After the war he returned home and married Angelin "Angie" L. [Scarsella] and they started a family.

Mr. Senich died on Noveber 2nd 2016 at 94 years of age in Duluth, Minnesota. He is buried at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
