MLACHNIK, Rudolf Raymond
Rudolph Raymond Mlachnik was born on May 16th 1917 to John & Josephine [Dolinsek] Mlachnik in Geaney, Minnesota.
Mr. Mlachnik entered into the U.S. Army on March 31st 1942 during WWII.
He served as a platoon sergeant with Company A of the 14th Infantry Regiment of the 71st Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSGT).
Mr Mlachnik earned the following merits for his service:
- Bronze Star Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Combat Infantryman Badge,
- American Campaign Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- two overseas service bars.
SGT Mlachnik married Rose Marie [Fink] on November 29th 1944 while on R&R and started a family after the war. He was honorably discharged on February 4th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
He also served during the Korean War. He re-entisted on January 8th 1951 and rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant (1LT). LT Mlachnik was with Headquarters Company of the 47th Infantry Division, and was honorably discharged at Fort Rucker, Alabama on May 27th 1952.
Mr. Mlachnik died March 13th 1963 at 45 years of age. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm, Minnesota.
