Pfc. Roy A. Nelson, of Cook, Minnesota native was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Nelson,

He saw overseas duty and was held a prisoner of war in Stalag 7B, Germany for 14 of months.

He was "re-captured" by the American 44th Division and was flown to France before taking a boat back to the United States.

He was honorably discharged after 32 months of Army duty.
