Rose Pecarina of Virginia, Minnesota entered the Women's Army Corps in September 1943.
She was a Technician 5th Grade and a radio teletypist, serving in North Africa and Italy.
She went overseas on British troopship with 364 WACs and 4,000 infantrymen bound for Africa in January 1944.She was assigned to Headquarters AAF in Tunis.
She later flew to Naples, Italy, and went by truck to Caserta, where she was assigned the Regal Palace, first as teletypist then as secret radio teletypist.
Ms. Pecarina returned to New York on an Italian troopship and honorably discharged in October 1945.
