Ronald J. Anderson

Mr. Anderson entered the Army in April 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

He served his first tour of duty with the 210 Coast Artillery in Fort Richardson, Alaska, and Headquarters, Alaska Defense Command Confidential Section in 1942-43, and the Pacific Theater.

Past the test for pilot training at Elmdorf Field, Alaska, and returned to the continental U.S. for flight training at Santa Ana, California; Thunderbird, Arizona; and Lemoore Field, California. Commissioned Second Lieutenant and served as a pilot. He flew P-38s and A-20s.

On his second tour of duty in Europe in June 1944, he flew missions with the 155th Photo Squadron in England, France and Germany.

He received the following: Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four battle stars, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant on October 12, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
