He was discharged on October 4, 1941, at Fort Francis M. Warren, Wyoming.

He was nducted into the Army a second time on April 14, 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.  He served as a Private with the Corps of Engineers in the continental U.S.

He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, and was honorably discharged on November 26, 1945, at Fort Lewis, Washington.
