Robert Tromp was inducted into the Army on July 3, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as a Staff Sergeant and squad leader with Company M of the 60th Infantry Regiment in Algeria and Tunisia, North Africa, Sicily, Rhineland, and Normandy. He was wounded in action on July 13, 1944.
Mr. Tromp was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and four overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on June 4, 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
