Robert M. Rawson

Robert M. Rawson entered the Marine Corps on May 12, 1942.
He was a Private First Class and later a Corporal and an anti-aircraft section crew leader with the 6th Defense Battalion, 5th Amphibious Corps in the Pacific Theater.
He recalls, "Trained at San Diego on the 40 mm. anti-aircraft gun; went overseas with a bolt-action .03 rifle; spent 21 months on Midway, 5 months training recruits on Kavai, plus guard duty. More guard duty in the Everglades at a Naval blimp station, guard duty at Camp Pendleton. Also served during Korean conflict."
He was discharged on May 14, 1946.
