Robert Hinz served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific.
He enlisted on June 4, 1943 and was assigned with the 389th Air Service Squadron 5th Air Force in Australia, New Guinea, Noemfoor, Leyte, Luzon, and le Shima, as an aircraft mechanic. His rank was Private First Class.
He was honorably discharged on January 8, 1946.
Mr. Hinz was born in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1924, and he is the son of George and Maida Hinz. He graduated from high school in 1943.
