RAWN, Robert Chester

Robert Chester Rawn was born on January 1st 1919 to Noah & Ada Linda [Hagberg] in Duluth, Minnesota. Before the U.S. entry in WWII he married Doris Elizabeth [Westin] on May 20th 1939.

Mr. Rawn entered the U.S. Army on May 9th 1944 at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was a railway conductor with Company 'C" in Luzon, Philippines. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT).

SGT Rawn earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 bronze star,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with 1 bronze battle star,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

He was separated from the service on April 13th 1946. After the war he returned home to his wife and they started a family.

Mr. Rawn died on July 13th 2001 at 83 years of age in Duluth. He was cremated.
