CHEEVER, Robert Ardell
Robert Ardell Cheever was born on January 19th 1922 to Paul Ardell. & Clara A. [Schulz] Cheever in Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Cheever enlisted for service on October 29th 1940. He entered the U.S. Army on October 27th 1942.
He was a radio operator, phone operator and messenger with the 321st Engineer Battalion, 96th Infantry Division in Hawaii; Leyte and Okinawa in the Pacific. He was aboard the USS General John Pope from San Francisco. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).
His brother Howard Eugene also served.
TEC4 Cheever was honorably discharged on January 12th 1946. After the war he returned home and married Charlotte Marie [Wesley] in 1948 and they started a family.
Mr. Cheever died on April 24th 2000 in Hibbing. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
