Richard J. Pfeifer was inducted into the Army on June 23, 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hopper, Minnesota.
He served as a Private First Class, medium tank crewman, and machine gunner with Company C of the 47th Tank Battalion in Northern France and Germany. He was wounded in action in Germany on April 19, 1945.
Mr. Pfeifer was awarded the following: Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Easter Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He received a disability discharge on August 11, 1945, at the Wakeman Army Convalescent Hospital at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
