HOLMES, Reuben Carlyle

Reuben Carlyle Holmes was born on June 29th 1918 to Nestor Andrew & Lilyan Maria [Maki] Holmes in Forbes, Minnesota.

Mr. Holmes enlisted for military service in February 1940. He was enducted into the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve on March 18th 1941.

He was a rifleman and platoon leader during WWII. He rose to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GSGT).

SGT Holmes was honorably discharged November 22nd 1945 at Great Lakes, Illinois. After the war he returned home to northern Minnesota.

Mr. Carlyle died on November 9th 1974 at 56 years of age. He is buried at Idington Cemetery near Angora, Minnesota.
