HUHTA, Reino Walter

Reino Walter Huhta was born on May 15th 1913 to John Gustav & Susanna [Mickelson] Huhta in Otter Tail, Minnesota.

Mr. Huhta of Embarrass, Minnesota, was inducted into the U.S. Army on September 4th 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

He was a Private First Class (PFC) and truck driver with the Headquarters Battery of the 548th Field Artillery Battalion, in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Huhta earned the following medals and awards:

  • the Bronze Star Medal,
  • Combat Infantryman Badge,
  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • World War II Victory Medal, -and-
  • two overseas service bars.

 

PFC Huhta was honorably discharged December 27th 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

Mt. Huhta died on July 26th 1993 at the age of 80 years old. He is buried at Ft. Snalling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
